Draper Temple Open House
Wow, what an incredible experience our family had at the Draper Temple Open House yesterday. The Spirit was so strong as we entered and walked through each room. It was awesome to watch my nieces and nephews experience seeing a temple for the first time. They were in awe, especially in the Celestial room. Cute little B.J. even said, "Wow!" upon entering, which was what was going through our minds! It was gorgeous. After we left the Celestial room, my niece Savannah said, "I want to live here!" Christopher lost a tooth while he was in the Celestial room-- a memorable experience! In discussing the temple with the kids as we were driving somewhere later in the day, Kyle said, "I felt so different there, different than any other place. It felt like the day of my baptism." Another said, "It felt like I was in heaven with Jesus Christ." I asked them if they knew what those feelings were, and discussed with them how the Spirit is that peaceful, heavenly, loving feeling. I told them it was good for them to recognize and know what that feeling is like, because they would need it for the future in all the decisions they have to make with college, missions, and who to marry. They are so impressionable. I was disappointed in myself for taking them to a movie later where the Spirit left... I hope they'll keep the great feelings of the temple with them! What really matters are those things that bring us closer to God and to each other. I felt comfort with the words in Philippians 3 this morning, "Brethren, be followers together of me... For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ." The scriptures speak many words of peace to my heart, and I'm grateful for the chance to have such spiritual moments with my family. The temples are the house of God, and as Savannah said, "I want to live here!" I thought, "That's because we feel the Spirit here, and wouldn't it be great if we could always feel that?!"
