Yup, she's home! After a 8 a.m. consultation with the hospital endocrinologist about her liver this morning, and finding out that although it's enlarged and apparently stressed by the medications, the pain should gradually go away, and hopefully the nausea will too. The doctors talked and decided to just have her take over the counter meds to help that. After waiting for nurses to get the discharge papers, prescriptions and directions all squared away, we packed up all her gear, cards, flowers, and love tokens and were on our way home!!!
She has had a good day.... felt her appetite come back with foods she loves at home, enjoyed looking at her emails, had a warm shower and washed her hair, and now enjoying a "long winter's nap" on a soft comfortable bed. Ahhh... there's no place like home!
Her right eye is looking a little better... the bruising is turning yellow instead of purple, and even the staples from her head were removed this morning. So now we can enjoy thinking about and getting ready for Christmas during the moments when she feels strong.
We are so grateful we have passed this first hard hurdle. Christmas will have a deeper, more powerful feeling for our family this year. We acknowledge whose hand has been with us through this whole ordeal and know He has strengthened us and lifted us to help us carry this heavy load. Thank you to all whose faith and love and prayers have reassured us and given us the power to go on.
