This is Laura here again. I was able to see Janelle via Skype on Sunday night. Her eye still looked swollen and was shut, but she looked much better than in the pictures my mom had sent the day after surgery. My mom had done her hair in some cute braids and she looked comfy in her sweats. She didn't smile much (hurts her torn muscles in her face) but you could tell she was her positive self. I talked to her on Monday morning and she seemed lively and full of the spirit. She said she had been trying hard not to laugh the night before at things my brothers, sisters, and neices/nephews were doing, but simply enjoyed being around her family too much to care. They had a "Bethlehem Dinner" on Sunday night and were able to have a cool Family Home Evening centered around the Savior. (It's at times like these that I hate living so far away! But I'm glad they had fun.) Janelle seemed buoyed up from that and was animated while telling me all about it.
But alas, she's back in the hospital today. Here's what my mom updated today on her CarePages:
Unfortunately I'm updating this in the ER today. After another rough night of a very sick Janelle, we decided to trapse through the newfallen snow and find out if there is something else wrong.... her stomach won't let her keep anything down. We called her doctor at 3:30 in the morning, and he was kind enough to call us back and spoke with us for over a half hour. She still was so sick this morning, so Janelle was ready to go back to the hospital to find out what is wrong. The thought kept coming to me through the night....two steps forward, one step back. Hopefully this is a small minor setback and they can give her fluids, maybe equalize her electrolytes and we'll be on our way home. We'll keep you posted.
I just talked to my mom on the phone and they are going to admit her - most likely for at least overnight. We continue to pray that things will work out over time and that Janelle will have the strength to bear it. Like my mom said, two steps forward, one step back. But as long as we're moving forward, that's what really matters. Please keep the texts, e-mails, and messages of encouragement coming. They certainly encourage Janelle a lot!
